Job summary

Sudima Kaikoura, operated by Hind Management, is seeking a full-time Houseperson to join the housekeeping team. You will help ensure linen stock, tidy hallways, and pristine hotel conditions, working under the Executive Housekeeping Manager or Supervisors.

The role offers $24 per hour on a fixed-term contract with a minimum of 25 hours per week. Availability across a rostered week, including weekends and public holidays, is required.

Qualifications

• NZQF Level 1 qualification or compulsory secondary education completed.
• 2 years' experience in a similar role.
• Available to work a minimum of 30 hours per week, including weekends and public holidays.
• Attention to detail and ability to stay calm under pressure.
• Valid Right to Work in NZ.

Responsibilities

• Work to the highest standards of cleanliness, tidiness and hygiene.
• Ensure fresh linen is available for Room Attendants at all times.
• Maintain the cleanliness of public areas.
• Cleaning the interior of buildings and the immediate outside areas.
• Attend to public bathrooms and replenish bathroom products.
• Report any technical issues and maintenance needs.
• Provide a warm, friendly welcome to guests and assist with directions.
• Keep storeroom neat and tidy at all times.
• Use correct cleaning chemicals per regulations and hotel requirements.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, shampoo carpets, and clean curtains and upholstery.
• Pickup rubbish and manage waste disposal.
• Strip and make beds, and change bed linen.

The Role | Te mahiWe are currently seeking a Full time role Houseperson to join the Housekeeping team at Sudima Kaikoura. Working as a valuable member of the housekeeping team, performing tasks as assigned by the Executive Housekeeping Manager or Housekeeping Supervisors. It is your duty to make sure that clean linen is gathered and fully stocked for the housekeeping team, that hallways are tidy and free of rubbish and used linen, and ensure that the hotel is always kept in pristine condition. The wage per hour for this role is $24 per hour. This is a fixed term role with a minimum of 25 hours per week.

Responsibilities | Ngā haepapa

• Work to the highest standards of cleanliness, tidiness and hygiene


• Ensure fresh linen is available for Room Attendants at all times


• Maintain the cleanliness of public areas


• Cleaning the interior of buildings and the immediate outside areas


• Attend to public bathrooms and replenish bathroom products (e.g. soap, hand lotion)


• Report any technical issues and maintenance needs


• To provide a warm friendly welcome every time you come into contact with a guest and assist with directions if needed


• Ensure that the storeroom is kept neat & tidy at all times


• Use correct cleaning chemicals for designated surfaces, according to H&S regulations and hotel requirements


• Sweeping, mopping and polishing floors, vacuuming and shampooing carpets, and cleaning curtains and upholstered furniture


• Picking up rubbish, emptying garbage containers, and taking contents to waste areas for removal


• Stripping and making beds, and changing bed linen

Requirements

About you | Ko koe tēnei

• NZQF Level 1 qualification, or compulsory secondary education (ANZSCO Skill Level 5)


• OR at least 2 years previous experience in a similar role


• Available to work a minimum of 30 hours flexibly across a rostered working week (Including weekends and public holidays)


• Takes pride in work and has exceptional attention to detail


• Ability to remain calm under pressure, spot and resolve problems efficiently


• Willing to go the extra mile to ensure guests make the most of their day


• Exceptional grooming and hygiene standards


• Valid Right to Work in NZ
