Job summary

Hind Management is seeking a Food and Beverage Attendant to join the team at Sudima Kaikōura’s new waterfront restaurant, Hiku. This full-time role offers a guaranteed minimum of 30 hours per week and a pay rate of $24 per hour.

Training will be provided, with fixed-term and permanent positions available for the upcoming busy summer season. Ideal candidates bring hospitality passion and customer-facing experience.

Qualifications

• Two years of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualifications listed above.
• NZ work rights in New Zealand is required.
• Ability to work outside normal hours (early mornings, late finishes, weekends, public holidays).
• Experience in restaurant & bar service or customer-facing roles is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Provide a warm, engaging welcome to all guests.
• Work as a team to ensure exceptional service and dining experiences.
• Prepare the restaurant for service by setting and arranging tables.
• Seat guests, present menus and beverage lists, take orders and deliver service.
• Open bottles, pour beverages and serve food.
• Clear tables and return dishes and cutlery to the kitchen.
• Refill and replace glasses as needed.
• Answer external and internal phone inquiries and deliver room service.
• Settle guest accounts and operate POS/cash registers.
• Ensure a positive resolution and timely follow-up on guest complaints.

We are seeking talented

We are seeking talented Food and Beverage Attendant to join our team in the new waterfront restaurant Hiku. We are looking for individuals passionate about hospitality and who have experience in restaurants or customer facing roles. Full training will be provided. This is a full-time role based at Sudima Kaikōura, with a guaranteed minimum of 30 hours per week and a pay rate of $24 per hour. We have both fixed term and permanent roles available. Join our team as we prepare for a busy summer season!

Responsibilities | Ngā haepapa

• Provide a warm engaging welcome to all guests
• Work as a team to ensure exceptional service and dining experiences
• Preparation of the restaurant for service by setting and arranging tables
• Seating guests, presenting them with menues and beverage lists, taking orders and delivering exceptional service at all times
• Opening bottles, pouring beverages and serving food
• Clearing tables and returning dishes and cutlery to kitchen
• Removing empty bottles and used glasses from tables, and refilling and replacing glasses
• Taking external and internal phone inquiries and delivery of room service
• Settling guest accounts and operating point of sales machines and cash registers
• Ensuring a positive resolution and follow up with any guest complaint

• Exceptional grooming and hygiene standards
• Ability to remain calm under pressure, willing to go the extra mile to ensure guests make the most of their day
• Outstanding communication and customer service skills, with good attention to detail
• Have a desire to learn and grow your hospitality career
• Experience in restaurant & bar service or customer facing role would be advantageous
• Flexibility to work outside normal hours as required (which may include early morning starts, late finishes, weekends and public holidays)
• Valid Right to Work in New Zealand
• NZQF Level 2 or 3 qualification (ANZSCO Skill Level 4) or
• At least two years of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualifications listed above
