Job summary

Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora Southern invites applications for a House Officer (PGY2+) at Southland Hospital. This permanent, full-time position offers exposure to a broad range of clinical experiences within a supportive, Registrar-led environment.

You will rotate through several specialties with access to robust teaching, library resources, and regular Grand Rounds. Applicants should be eligible for NZ Medical Council registration and EPIC credentialing, with a minimum of 1 year

Qualifications

• Registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand or eligibility for general or provisional general registration.
• EPIC credentialing is required/recommended for registration processing.
• Minimum of 1 year post-qualification experience.

Responsibilities

• Hands-on experience in a registrar/consultant-led clinical setting.
• Rotations available across general surgery, orthopaedics, medicine, psychiatry, AT&R, relievers and ED/Paediatrics/O&G.
• Access to library, weekly teaching, Grand Rounds, journal clubs and RM0 forums to support professional development.
• Assistance with career progression toward registrar roles as opportunities arise.

• You will be exposed to several medical situations that will equip you well for future training Registrar roles You will have continued support in your professional development through 24/7 access to the library, weekly teaching and Grand Rounds, journal clubs, and regular RMO forums.
• Following that and depending on your interest, we have a number of runs available for you to work in. These include:

• General Surgery
• Orthopaedics
• General Medicine
• Psychiatry
• AT&R
• Relievers
• ED (6 month run)
• Paediatrics (6 month run)
• O&G (6 month run)

This role belongs to the New Zealand Resident Doctors' Association and Te Whatu Ora (Health New Zealand) Collective Agreement and Specialty Trainees of New Zealand (STONZ) and Te Whatu Ora (Health New Zealand) Collective Agreement.

About you

Our ideal candidate will have:

• Registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand or be eligible for general or provisional general registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand. You can check your eligibility for registration by visiting the Council's website at MCNZ
• A minimum of 1 year post qualification experience
