Job summary

Health NZ Southern invites applications for Registrars and Consultants in a close-knit team providing elective and emergency surgical and anaesthesia services across a large geographical area. The role offers exposure to orthopaedic, urology, obstetrics, ENT, plastic and paediatric surgery, with opportunities for ACC Grand Rounds and RMO forums.

• One year of accredited training at any level for ANZCA trainees.
• Commitment to EPIC Credentialing process to enable timely registration.

Responsibilities

• Exposure to a wide range of cases including orthopaedic arthroplasty/trauma, urology, colorectal surgery, and obstetrics.
• Provide elective and emergency services to the community with 24/7 access to resources and teaching.
• Work within a close-knit team of Registrars and Consultants under supervision and mentorship.

About the Role

Be part of a close-knit team of 6 Registrars, 13 Consultants with exposure to a wide range of cases, including:

• Orthopaedic arthroplasty and trauma
• Urology and colorectal surgery
• Obstetrics

Visiting specialties including ENT, plastic, paediatric specialist surgery and Spinal and exposure to critical care when required. Providing elective and emergency services to the community, as well as acute pain management to patients following surgery or trauma, or during labour. One year of accredited training at any level for ANZCA trainees.

About you

Our ideal candidate will have:

• Registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand or be eligible for general or provisional general registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand. You can check your eligibility for registration by visiting the Council's website at MCNZ
• A minimum of 2 years post qualification experience and at least 12 months Anaesthesia experience

It is requirement of the Medical Council of New Zealand that your qualifications are approved through EPIC. If you have a commitment to working in New Zealand, it is highly recommended that you start this process as soon as possible to allow your subsequent registration to be undertaken in a timely fashion.
