Job summary

Spectrum Care is seeking a House Leader in Auckland to supervise a support team in residential and community settings, delivering 24‑hour care across the region.

Working with the Service Coordinator, you will oversee service delivery, coach staff, and coordinate rosters to ensure efficient, compassionate support for adults with disabilities.

Qualifications

  • Experience leading a team and coaching individuals.
  • Effective report writing skills.
  • Organising and allocating rosters.
  • Exposure to balancing general ledgers.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with the people you support, families and your coordinator.
  • Active involvement in activities from sports to personal cares.
  • Excellent, clear verbal and written English is required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coach a support team in the home environment.
  • Supervise service delivery with guidance from the Service Coordinator.
  • Organise and manage rosters to ensure 24‑hour coverage across shifts.
  • Maintain clear written reports and assist with administrative tasks.

Job description

We have more than 100 worksites and support options across the whole Auckland region. In our residential service, we provide services for adults with intellectual and or physical disabilities within our homes and out in their community. We provide 24 hour support which consists rotating roster Monday through to Sunday.

Our House Leader role combines support work and engages, motivates a team of a support team in the home. Working and gaining guidance from your Service Coordinator you would be supervising to ensure and efficient and effective successful service to people we support in a community home.

Skills & Experience
  • Experience leading a team is greatly beneficial especially with the ability to coach and develop individuals
  • Effective report writing skills
  • Organising and allocating rosters
  • Exposure to balancing general ledgers
  • Ability to communicate effectively and supportively with the people you support,
  • their families and your coordinator
  • To be fit enough for an active role that engages anything between sports, community engagement, and recreational activities to personal cares
  • Excellent, clear, understandable verbal and written English is a pre-requisite to be considered for this role
The ideal candidate will have:
  • Experience supporting people with disabilities and/or challenging behaviours
  • Reliability, Commitment, and Passion for working with people
  • A driver's licence
  • The ability to use a computer effectively, including programs such as Word, Internet Explorer, and email
If you are a non-resident applying for this role you must meet the following INZ Level 3 skill requirements to be considered:
  • Have worked in the care workforce for 3 years or more, or
  • A relevant qualification on the New Zealand Qualifications and Credentials Framework (NZQCF) — this must be at least a level 4 qualification for a role at skill level 3, or a diploma for a role at skill level 2.
