Job summary

Stonyridge Vineyard on Waiheke Island is seeking a hands-on General Manager to lead our 120-seat restaurant, busy Cellar Door and outdoor decks. You will direct department managers, ensuring top-tier guest experiences for national and international visitors, and coordinate events and wine-tasting functions.

You bring strong hospitality systems knowledge, proven leadership, and a passion for wine and food, with a track record in improving business performance.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years in hospitality management.
• Proven experience running a multi-facility operation.
• Strong financial acumen and budgeting.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Direct department managers to deliver Stonyridge experiences to guests.
• Oversee the operations of the 120-seat restaurant, Cellar Door, deck and events.
• Ensure exceptional guest service for local, national and international visitors.
• Drive profitability through cost control, staff engagement and compliance.
• Lead and develop a high-performing hospitality team on Waiheke Island.

An exciting opportunity exists to utilise your strong Management, financial and organisational skills, passion for Hospitality, Wine and Food to lead our busy Restaurant and Cellar Door and Kitchen team on Waiheke Island.

Stonyridge Vineyard is a long established Restaurant, Cellar Door and Winery boasting award winning wines, entertainment and dining spaces, nestled amongst olive trees and vines, catering to both national and international visitors, VIP clientele and wine-lovers from all walks.

You will be overseeing the operations of our 120 seater restaurant, our well recommended Cellar Door, a busy outdoor deck and lawns area with a separate menu and regular weekend Events.

Main Responsibilities

The role is broadly scoped with accountability to direct your department managers to ensure their teams' deliver the best Stonyridge experiences to our local, national and international visitors ,whether this be dining in, wine-tasting, private celebrations, or, our many calendered events.

About You:

You have strong Hospitality systems knowledge, including POS, stocktaking, rostering, staff costings and compliance.

You have a successful track record in hospitality operations, contributing to business performance through strong team engagement.

You enjoy hospitality and have an interest in all things wine and food.

You thrive in a hands‑on environment, leading your team by example to deliver an exceptional customer experience.

You have the insight to make decisions that impact on profitability, evidence of creating and leading highly functioning teams and cultures.

You must have –

A current NZ Work Visa or residency

A current General Manager/LCQ License

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

An understanding of NZ compliance with Health and Safety and Food and Beverage
