Elysium Healthcare is seeking a Chef for Wellesley Hospital in Wellington to join a dedicated kitchen team. You will work 32.25 hours per week, crafting daily meals for service users, staff and visitors, while guiding peers and ensuring high culinary standards.

You’ll contribute to menu planning, cost control, and adherence to HACCP and food hygiene rules. The role offers a calm work environment, opportunities for event catering, and a strong work-life balance with two days off weekly.

Qualifications

• 18 years or older.
• GCSE or equivalent English.
• City & Guilds 706/1 and 2 (or equivalent) Basic Food Preparation Cooking.
• Basic Food Hygiene (essential).
• Previous experience in a similar environment.
• Previous experience in delivering a service on mass.
• Menu planning, costing, ordering, stock control and budget experience.

Responsibilities

• Support the Head Chef for day-to-day kitchen operations.
• Maintain food storage procedures and stock rotation.
• Prepare and cook meals to high standard with dietary considerations.
• Serve food and beverages to service users, staff and visitors.
• Prepare foods for conferences and banquets.
• Participate in food costings and cost control.
• Adhere to Safer Food Better Business standards and records.
• Follow Food Hygiene Regulations and safety procedures.
• Take full shift responsibility for catering operations.
• Research and develop new menus aligned with healthy eating guidelines.
• Accurately file HACCP paperwork (temperatures, logs, cleaning schedules).
