Job summary

Wellesley Hospital, part of Elysium Healthcare, is seeking a Chef to join our dedicated kitchen team. You will work 32.25 hours per week crafting daily meals for service users, staff and visitors, while supporting the Head Chef and guiding peers.

You’ll oversee meal preparation, food hygiene, and menu development, including catering for conferences and events. A positive, collaborative environment with opportunities for training and career progression awaits.

Qualifications

• GCSE English required.
• City & Guilds 706/1 and 2 (or equivalent).
• Basic Food Preparation/Cooking experience.
• Basic Food Hygiene (essential).
• Intermediate Food Hygiene (desirable).
• Previous experience in a similar environment.
• Menu planning, costing, ordering, stock control and budget experience.

Responsibilities

• Support the Head Chef for the day-to-day running of the kitchen.
• Maintain good food storage procedures and stock rotation.
• Prepare, plan and cook meals to a high standard with dietary requirements.
• Serve food and beverages to service users, staff and visitors.
• Prepare foods for conferences and banquets.
• Participate in food costing and cost control procedures.
• Adhere to Safer Food Better Business and record keeping.
• Follow Food Hygiene Regulations and safety procedures.
• Take full shift responsibility for the catering operation.
• Research and create new menus that align with healthy eating guidelines.
• File HACCP paperwork (temperatures, logs, cleaning schedules).
