Job summary

Tarbotton is seeking a Highway Maintenance Operator to patrol and maintain the state highway network between Rakaia, Rangitata and Mt Hutt. You will identify issues early, perform routine maintenance, and respond to anything affecting safety or network condition.

The role emphasizes independent work with the wider team, high attention to detail, and a commitment to safe, reliable roads for the community. NZ residency or valid work visa is required.

Qualifications

• Experience with traffic management.
• Experience in road maintenance preferred.
• Class 2 drivers license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Patrol and maintain the state highway network between Rakaia, Rangitata and Mt Hutt (SH1 and SH77).
• Identify issues early and carry out routine maintenance to support road safety and reliability.
• Report defects or hazards before they become bigger problems.
• Work independently and with the maintenance team to keep the network safe and tidy.
