Job description

LIC is a farmer-owned co-operative that’s been supporting herd improvement in New Zealand’s dairy sector for more than 115 years. We’re focused on providing superior genetics, reliable testing and diagnostics, integrated on-farm software, and great customer service, all designed to help farmers make smarter decisions every day.

As a proud generational co-operative, we’re here for farmers, their families, and rural communities, not just for today, but for the future. And none of it happens without our people. Whether on farm, in the lab, or behind the scenes, every one of us plays a part in helping New Zealand farmers succeed.

About The Role

Our Herd Test Technicians use LIC vehicles to deliver and install Herd Testing equipment in dairy sheds throughout the region. They then return the following day to collect the completed samples and equipment. This is a fast-paced role which requires excellent time management skills and physical strength as handling heavy equipment is a must.

Working in Hawkes Bay region, this is a short-term role to cover the seasonal peak for around 9 months. The role will suit individuals who love being outdoors and have flexibility with their working hours.

About You

To hit the ground running in this role, you will ideally know your way around a milking shed and have a reasonable level of fitness and physical strength. Other key attributes are:

• A clean full Class 1 driver’s licence.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Being self-motivated, professional, and reliable.
• Exceptional time management abilities.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Flexibility with working hours and locations within the Hawkes Bay region.
• Tech-savvy with a ‘can-do’ attitude.

In return you’ll get…

• Extra leave days
• A competitive hourly rate
• The possibility of returning each season
• A supportive and fun work environment

If you are ready to take the next step in your career and contribute to the success of NZ’s dairy industry, we want to hear from you!
