Job description

Jora New Zealand will close on 9th September 2026. Thank you for being with us, we are cheering you on as you continue your career journey.

Glacier Southern Lakes Helicopters – Queenstown, South Island

We are offering a fantastic opportunity for a keen applicant looking for a job in an exciting industry with Queenstown’s leading helicopter operator.

Glacier Southern Lakes Helicopters is locally owned and has been operating since 1980, pioneering glacier landings. We pride ourselves on a truly professional service offered by a great team of people.

As a Base Coordinator, you'll assist our team in the daily running of our helicopter operation. This will encompass all ground-based helicopter scenic and commercial activities. Tasks include, but are not limited to: driving our courtesy coach; hosting/checking in clients; conducting safety briefings; helicopter loading; scheduling flights; managing booking reservations; responding to all email and/or phone enquiries, flight following and general house keeping tasks such as cleaning.

The role involves a significant amount of administration work, so you will need to be comfortable working in front of a computer on a daily basis.

This is a role within the tourism and aviation industry, and as such, flexibility is essential. Operating hours are driven by weather, flight schedules, and guest demand, meaning early starts, late finishes, weekends, and public holidays will all be part of the role. If you are seeking a standard 9–5 position, this role will not be the right fit for you. However, if you thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and enjoy variety in your workday, this role can be incredibly rewarding.

At all times, you will ensure excellence in customer service, contributing towards providing an overall outstanding experience for our clients.

The ideal candidate will have:
  • confidence working with the Microsoft packages
  • a good knowledge of a reservations system (such as IBIS, Fareharbor, INTOUCH) is preferable
  • experience in the tourism industry (preferable but not essential)
  • excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • a full and clean driver’s license
  • a legal right to live and work in New Zealand
  • No aviation experience required but professionalism, enthusiasm and a strong commitment to health and safety is essential. If you have a willingness to learn and develop, this is the role for you!
