Job summary

QJumpers Recruitment Services is seeking a Health & Safety Advisor to work hands-on with operational teams, supporting safety culture and risk control across our regional operations in Waikato, South Waikato & Bay of Plenty. The role is permanent part-time with potential to grow to full-time, with flexible days and hours.

You will collaborate with the H&S Manager, provide practical advice, monitor hazards, mentor reps, and manage our H&S systems while ensuring compliance with NZ legislation.

Qualifications

  • A tertiary qualification in Occupational Health & Safety or a relevant discipline.
  • 3+ years’ experience in a health and safety role.
  • Strong knowledge of New Zealand health and safety legislation and WorkSafe requirements.
  • Understanding of ACC processes, workplace injury and rehabilitation.
  • Experience with H&S systems, reporting and documentation.
  • Strong Microsoft Office and computer skills.
  • A full Class 1 driver’s licence.
  • Ability to work in environments involving heights and confined spaces.
  • Practical, proactive problem-solving approach.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a team.

Responsibilities

  • Regular regional travel is required, including the ability to stay away from home when necessary.

We’re looking for an experienced Health & Safety Advisor who is practical, approachable and confident working alongside operational teams. This is a hands‑on role where you’ll have the opportunity to influence safety culture, support our people, identify risks and help drive continuous improvement across our business.

Working closely with our Health & Safety Manager and operational teams, you’ll be a key point of contact for health and safety matters across our regional operations.

This is a permanent part‑time opportunity with potential to grow into a full‑time role. Days and hours are flexible and can be discussed with the right candidate.

Regional Coverage

Key responsibilities

About you
  • You’ll be someone who can build relationships, challenge unsafe practices and make health and safety practical for the people doing the work.
  • You'll ideally have:
  • A tertiary qualification in Occupational Health & Safety or a relevant discipline
  • 3+ years’ experience in a health and safety role
  • Strong knowledge of New Zealand health and safety legislation and WorkSafe requirements
  • Understanding of ACC processes, workplace injury and rehabilitation
  • Experience with H&S systems, reporting and documentation
  • Strong Microsoft Office and computer skills
  • A full Class 1 driver’s licence
  • The ability to work comfortably in environments involving heights and confined spaces
  • A practical, proactive approach to problem‑solving
  • The ability to work independently while being a strong team contributor
It would be great if you also have;
  • Experience in construction, scaffolding, heavy maintenance, industrial services or another high‑risk environment would be an advantage
  • Knowledge of ISO 45001 would also be beneficial
