Job summary

Downer is seeking a Driver Operator to join the New Plymouth team, operating heavy machinery across civil and road projects. You will work within the NPIP, contributing to construction, renewal and maintenance tasks with a reliable, safety‑focused approach.

Local knowledge of New Plymouth area is a plus; you will operate excavators, rollers and trucks and use hand tools when required, with overtime available in peak periods.

Qualifications

• Experience operating heavy machinery such as excavators, rollers and trucks.
• Commitment to safe working practices.
• Willingness to work shift work as required.

Responsibilities

• Operate excavators, rollers and trucks on construction/maintenance projects.
• Perform hand tool tasks as needed to complete jobs.
• Support NPIP projects across diverse sites in New Plymouth.
