Job summary

Higgins is seeking an experienced Heavy Diesel Mechanic to join our Auckland workshop team at East Tamaki yard. You will service and repair a fleet of heavy vehicles, civil plant and equipment, perform diagnostics, COF checks and routine servicing.

The role includes night shifts and rostered callouts, contributing to safe, reliable operations. You will bring Level 4 Trade qualifications, a current Class 4 licence with WTR endorsements, and ideally a Class 5 licence.

Qualifications

• Level 4 Trade Qualification (or equivalent).
• Current, full Class 4 licence with WTR endorsements.
• Class 5 licence advantageous.
• Experience maintaining and repairing heavy vehicles, construction plant and mobile equipment.
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
• A practical approach with attention to detail.
• Committed to safe work practices and teamwork.
• Available for overtime, night work and rostered callouts.

Responsibilities

• Service and maintain heavy vehicles, civil construction plant and equipment.
• Diagnose faults and complete mechanical and minor electrical repairs.
• Carry out COF checks, servicing, lubrication, fitting and welding work.
• Inspect vehicles and equipment to identify maintenance requirements.
• Complete maintenance records and follow scheduled servicing programmes.
• Help keep the workshop organised, well-stocked and safe.
