Job summary

WM New Zealand in Auckland East Tamaki is seeking a qualified Diesel Mechanic to join our modern workshop. You’ll work with a skilled team in a supportive environment, maintaining and servicing fleet trucks and equipment.

The role offers a 45-hour week (Mon-Fri with some Saturdays), an hourly rate of NZD 40–43, on-site facilities, on-call allowance, and opportunities for training and career progression.

Qualifications

  • NZQA Level 4 Heavy Diesel Trade or equivalent Level 4 recognised by NZQA.
  • 1+ years experience in preventive maintenance, diagnostics and repairs of fleet trucks.
  • Experience in hydraulic systems diagnostics and/or automotive electrical/electronic fault diagnosis preferred.
  • CMMS experience is an advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining vehicle records and completing job sheets for inspections, servicing and repairs.
  • Servicing and maintaining vehicles and equipment per policy and vendor programmes.
  • Carrying out vehicle and body/unit servicing per Preventative Maintenance Programme.
  • Promoting safe working practices at all times.
  • Managing job processing through CMMS.
  • Requisitioning repair parts and consumables.
  • Daily checks of workshop tools and equipment for serviceability.

Job Description

This is a fantastic opportunity for a qualified Diesel Mechanic to join our friendly and supportive team in East Tamaki. You’ll be working alongside a skilled group of mechanics in our modern workshop, supported by the wider Auckland-based team.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Maintaining vehicle records by accurately completing all job sheets for inspections, servicing, and repairs
  • Servicing and maintaining vehicles and equipment in line with company policy and vendor programmes
  • Carrying out vehicle and body/unit servicing in accordance with our Preventative Maintenance Programme
  • Promoting and maintaining safe working practices at all times
  • Manage job processing through the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Requisition of necessary repair parts and consumables.
  • Perform daily checks of all Vehicle Workshop tools and equipment to ensure they are serviceable and accounted for.
Qualifications

What we’re looking for:

  • A Level 4 Heavy Diesel Trade NZQA Certificateor an equivalent international qualification recognised by NZQA as Level 4
  • Over 1 years proven experience in preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs of fleet trucks
  • Preference will be given to those with over 1 years’ experience in hydraulic systems diagnostics and maintenance and/or automotive electrical/electronic fault diagnosis
  • Over 1 years proven experience with Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) is an advantage but not essential
  • A Class 4 Driver’s Licence is a strong advantage
