Job summary

InterGroup in New Zealand is seeking an experienced Heavy Diesel Mechanic to service and maintain our fleet across multiple regions.

You will diagnose, repair and test diesel engines and related systems, performing preventative maintenance while complying with safety standards. The role is full-time, 40 hours per week, with shift coverage from 6am to 10pm across regions including Auckland, Northland, Waikato and more.

• Minimum 2 years' experience on heavy vehicles and diesel engines.

About the role

Our workshop team plays a critical role in keeping our fleet safe, compliant, and on the road. In this dynamic, hands‑on position, you’ll ensure our vehicles are serviced and maintained to the highest standard, supporting reliable, peak performance.

Right now, we are recruiting for Heavy Diesel Mechanic’s .

Location

You will be required to work in Auckland, Northland, Taranaki, Bay of Plenty, Waikato, Christchurch, Wellington and Otago regions.

Hours of Work

Our normal hours of operation are between 6am and 10pm, 7 days per week. This role is a 40 hours per week position.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Servicing and maintaining heavy diesel vehicles and specialist equipment
• Fault finding and diagnostics across mechanical and electrical systems
• Repairing, maintaining, and testing diesel engines and related components
• Conducting preventative maintenance and safety checks
• Ensuring all work meets safety and compliance standards
• Completing job documentation accurately and efficiently

What We’re Looking For

• Minimum 2 years' experience working on heavy vehicles and diesel engines
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• A commitment to health and safety best practice
• Class 2–5 Driver Licence (advantageous but not essential)
• Reliable, motivated, and ready to hit the ground running
