Job summary

WM New Zealand is seeking a qualified Diesel Mechanic for our East Tamaki workshop. You will join a skilled team and work in a modern facility, handling scheduled maintenance and repairs for fleet vehicles.

The role requires a Level 4 Heavy Diesel Trade NZQA certificate (or equivalent), 1+ year experience in diagnostics and preventive maintenance, CMMS familiarity, and a Class 4 Driver’s Licence is advantageous. 45 hours/week with some Saturdays and an on-call allowance.

Qualifications

• NZQA Level 4 Heavy Diesel Trade certificate or equivalent recognised by NZQA as Level 4.
• 1+ year proven experience in preventive maintenance, diagnostics and repairs of fleet trucks.
• Preference for >1 year experience in hydraulic systems diagnostics and maintenance and/or automotive electrical/electronic fault diagnosis.
• Experience with CMMS is an advantage but not essential.
• A Class 4 Driver’s Licence is a strong advantage.

Responsibilities

• Maintain vehicle records by accurately completing all job sheets for inspections, servicing and repairs.
• Service and maintain vehicles and equipment in line with policy and vendor programmes.
• Carry out vehicle and body/unit servicing per the Preventative Maintenance Programme.
• Promote and maintain safe working practices at all times.
• Manage job processing through the CMMS.
• Requisition repair parts and consumables as needed.
• Perform daily checks of workshop tools and equipment to ensure serviceability.

Job Description

This is a fantastic opportunity for a qualified Diesel Mechanic to join our friendly and supportive team in East Tamaki. You’ll be working alongside a skilled group of mechanics in our modern workshop, supported by the wider Auckland-based team.

What you’ll be doing:

• Maintaining vehicle records by accurately completing all job sheets for inspections, servicing, and repairs
• Servicing and maintaining vehicles and equipment in line with company policy and vendor programmes
• Carrying out vehicle and body/unit servicing in accordance with our Preventative Maintenance Programme
• Promoting and maintaining safe working practices at all times
• Manage job processing through the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
• Requisition of necessary repair parts and consumables.
• Perform daily checks of all Vehicle Workshop tools and equipment to ensure they are serviceable and accounted for.

Qualifications

What we’re looking for:

• A Level 4 Heavy Diesel Trade NZQA Certificateor an equivalent international qualification recognised by NZQA as Level 4
• Over 1 years proven experience in preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs of fleet trucks
• Preference will be given to those with over 1 years’ experience in hydraulic systems diagnostics and maintenance and/or automotive electrical/electronic fault diagnosis
• Over 1 years proven experience with Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) is an advantage but not essential
• A Class 4 Driver’s Licence is a strong advantage
