Job summary

Bright Kiwis invites a qualified head teacher to lead day-to-day operations and maintain high-quality teaching for up to 28 children. You will apply Te Whāriki knowledge, ECE licensing criteria, and pedagogical documentation to support excellence in care and education.

You will mentor a small team, engage with tamariki on the floor, and build strong partnerships with whānau and the wider community, while ensuring compliance and smooth administration.

Qualifications

• Registered, certified ECE teacher with current Practising Certificate.
• Leadership experience or readiness to lead as head teacher.
• Strong knowledge of Te Whāriki and MOE licensing.
• Excellent organisational skills for admin tasks while maintaining classroom quality.
• Warm, collaborative approach for a small team.

Focused on creating a warm, supportive, and high-quality environment for our tamariki and staff, we are seeking an exceptional certified head teacher to lead our team.

About the role

You will lead day-to-day operations while maintaining active, vibrant teaching time on the floor. You'll bring a strong understanding of ECE licensing criteria, compliance, and pedagogical documentation to ensure high standards of care and education.

Key responsibilities

• Compliance and documentation: Oversite of ECE licensing criteria, internal reviews, assessment/planning paperwork, and health and safety requirements.
• On-the-floor teaching: Actively engage with tamariki, step into teaching ratios, and maintain a warm, intentional learning environment.
• Leadership and engagement: Mentor a small team and build strong, trusting relationships with parents, whānau, and the wider community.

What we are looking for

• Qualified, registered ECE teacher with a current Practicing Certificate.
• Leadership experience or readiness to step up into a head teacher role.
• Deep knowledge of Te Whāriki, ECE regulations, and Ministry of Education licensing criteria.
• Strong organizational skills to manage administrative tasks efficiently without losing focus on classroom quality.
• A warm, collaborative approach suited for a small, close-knit environment.
