Job summary

Halter is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the wireless network engineering team responsible for one of the world’s largest private IoT networks. You’ll shape the network architecture, manage spectrum strategy and oversee automation across LoRa, cellular, and satellite direct-to-device solutions.

This role combines hands-on delivery with people leadership in a fast-paced startup environment. Based in New Zealand, Auckland, you’ll own reliability outcomes, drive site deployments, and mentor

Qualifications

• Strong wireless fundamentals including spectrum allocation and link budgets.
• Hands-on experience with LoRa/LoRaWAN and cellular networks at scale.
• Experience reviewing tooling and code and guiding engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead a wireless network engineering team, mentoring and conducting performance conversations.
• Own the technical direction and delivery of the network architecture, reliability and scalability.
• Stay close to technical details: spectrum allocation, LoRa/cellular behaviour, tower infrastructure, automation.
• Own network reliability outcomes: uptime, incident response, on-call practices.
• Drive tower deployment and coverage strategy as Halter scales to new regions.
• Hire and grow the team and collaborate with firmware, backend, hardware, and field ops.
