St Dominic's Catholic College (Henderson) Auckland is seeking a Head of Technology Department to lead our Technology offerings across Secondary (Year 7–15) and wharekura. The role requires strong teaching in Coding (HTML, Python) and Digital Design, with oversight of Materials Technology (laser cutter), Textiles Technology and Food Technology at various senior/junior levels.

St Dominic’s Catholic College is seeking an enthusiastic and creative educator to lead our Technology Department.

The successful applicant will:

• Have strong skills and experience in or a desire to teach a range of Coding (HTML, Python) Digital Design, Materials Technology with laser cutter outcomes, Textiles Technology to a senior level and Food Technology at a junior level.
• Able to teach multi-level senior classes.
• A commitment to evidence based pedagogy.
• Manage Health and Safety in specialist workshop areas.
• Bring genuine interest in supporting and developing a future focused department.
• Provide strategic technology curriculum and department leadership to build on sound courses already in place.
• Have excellent communication and relationship building skills to inspire students and staff.
• Is organised and able to manage the responsibilities of all specialist technology subjects, including staff mentoring, budget management and resource allocation.
• Incorporate Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles and Te Ao Māori into the curriculum, design processes, and department culture.
• Accept the condition to support and uphold the Catholic special character of the school.

Participation in the co-curricular aspect of the college is expected.

All members of our teaching staff are also academic coaches who, with whānau, guide and support a group of students to set academic and personal goals, seek personal excellence and achieve academic success.
