Job summary

Forest Management (NZ) Limited (FMNZ), based in Te Kuiti, seeks a harvesting operations coordinator to support our harvest capacity. You will coordinate harvesting activities with the Regional Harvest Manager and assist with pre-harvest plans, roading and consent applications.

Based in Te Kuiti and reporting to the Regional Harvest Manager, this dynamic role makes a significant contribution to the operational success of the FMNZ harvest capacity.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Co-ordinating and managing harvesting operations to provide the best possible result for our forest owners in conjunction with the Regional Harvest Manager
  • Assisting with preparation/implementation of pre-harvest plans including roading and consent applications
  • Monitoring contractor performance and progress
  • Working in conjunction with other managers on harvest roading infrastructure and organisation of documents and external providers
  • Auditing, log quality and woodflow checks with contractors
  • Ensuring FMNZ environmental standards are adhered to
  • Promotion of and compliance with health and safety standards
About You – what we are after

We are looking for someone with a harvesting background and practical knowledge of harvest operations (2-5 years minimum).

  • Field practitioner skills with a broad understanding of the forest industry
  • Technical knowledge and skills in forestry, statistics/data analysis (a bonus but not essential)
  • The ability to learn relevant legal requirements such as the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015, Resource Management Act and NES-PF/CF
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Well-developed relationship management skills

A tertiary qualification would be advantageous but is not essential
