Job summary

Juken New Zealand Ltd (JNL) invites applications for a Harvest & Engineering Manager based at the Wairarapa Forests Office in Masterton. This full-time role oversees harvest production and engineering operations to efficiently deliver log products to customer specifications.

Reporting to the GM – Wairarapa Forests, you will lead forest production, plan harvest roads, manage contractor relationships, and ensure safety and environmental policies are followed.

Qualifications

  • Experience in logging, civil engineering and road construction management.
  • A tertiary qualification in forestry or a related discipline.
  • Commitment to a safe and healthy workplace.
  • Ability to work well in a team or independently.
  • Analytical, innovative thinking and problem solving.
  • Desire to build a long-term forestry career with JNL.

Responsibilities

  • Leading all facets of forest production to achieve daily, monthly and annual targets
  • Managing all engineering activities for harvest planning and road construction
  • Managing contractor relationships to meet legal and company requirements
  • Ensuring that production systems and personnel operate in compliance with JNL’s Health & Safety and Environmental Policies, Procedures and Standards.

About Us:

Juken New Zealand Ltd (JNL) is an international forest and wood products company operating in local and global timber markets. JNL owns three wood processing plants in the North Island, and forests in the East Coast and Wairarapa regions. We work closely with our parent company in Japan – WoodOne.

The role:

We are looking for an experienced and motivated individual to take on the role of Harvest & Engineering Manager. Reporting to GM – Wairarapa Forests, you will be based at our Wairarapa Forests Office located in Masterton. This is a full-time permanent position working a minimum of 40 hours per week.

In this role, you will be responsible for managing the forests harvest production and engineering operations to efficiently manufacture and deliver log products to customer specifications.

Main responsibilities will include:
  • Leading all facets of forest production to achieve daily, monthly and annual targets
  • Managing all engineering activities for harvest planning and road construction
  • Managing contractor relationships to meet legal and company requirements
  • Ensuring that all production systems and personnel operate in compliance with JNLs Health &Safety and Environmental Policies, Procedures and Standards.
To be successful in this role you will ideally have the following attributes:
  • Demonstrated experience in logging, civil engineering and road construction management
  • A tertiary qualification in forestry or related discipline
  • Focus on ensuring a safe and healthy workplace environment
  • The ability to work as part of a team or independently
  • Ability to think innovatively and analytically
  • Desire to build on existing skills to further pursue a long term career in forestry with the support of JNL
