Job summary

Waitaki Boys' High School in Oamaru, New Zealand, seeks a Hard Materials Technology teacher for the 2027 school year. You will teach across Years 9–13, including senior NCEA classes, continuing the strong hands-on learning in our well-resourced workshop.

Experience with design thinking, engineering and construction principles is valued. You should build strong relationships with students, maintain a safe workshop environment, and bring a passion for developing young men.

Qualifications

• Experience with design thinking and engineering & construction principles.
• A rapport-builder who can develop strong relationships with students.
• A suitably qualified teacher with a strong pedagogy and passion for developing young men.
• Able to maintain a safe environment to operate machinery & hand tools.

Responsibilities

• Teach Hard Materials Technology across Years 9-13, including senior NCEA classes.
• Continue the strong hands-on learning experiences in the well-resourced workshop.
• Foster creativity and craftsmanship through practical projects.
• Promote safe operation of machines and hand tools in the workshop.
