Job summary

Smith Crane & Construction in Christchurch is seeking a switched-on Yard & Project Coordinator to join our team. This hands-on role sits in the middle of daily operations, keeping the yard organised, coordinating freight and deliveries, managing equipment and materials, and ensuring projects have what they need when they need it.

You will take initiative, jump on the forklift when required, solve problems before they arise, and work closely with drivers, suppliers and internal teams to keep

Qualifications

• Forklift licence required.
• 3+ years in yard operations, transport, logistics, construction or similar.
• Experience coordinating deliveries, freight, equipment or projects.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Confident communication with drivers, suppliers and internal teams.
• Hands-on, proactive attitude and ability to work independently.
• Good computer skills and accurate record-keeping.
• Commitment to health and safety.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day operation of Christchurch yard and facilities.
• Coordinate incoming/outgoing freight, equipment, containers and materials.
• Manage deliveries and collections with drivers, suppliers, clients and internal teams.
• Move materials and equipment using a forklift.
• Keep yard organised, safe and ready for projects.
• Check outgoing loads and freight for dispatch readiness.
• Track equipment and assets and maintain records.
• Coordinate project logistics including personnel and transport.
