Job summary

Advanced Personnel Services – Christchurch, South Island, seeks experienced Hammerhands and Skilled Civil Labourers for upcoming Christchurch projects. You will perform various civil construction tasks, read plans, operate hand and power tools, and support tradespeople while maintaining safety on site.

Candidates should have solid civil or construction experience, be able to work with minimal supervision, and hold NZ work visa or eligibility. Weekly pay and long-term opportunities are on offer.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as Hammerhand, Skilled Labourer or similar civil construction role.
• Experience with formwork, concreting, steel fixing or other civil construction work.
• Confidence using a wide range of hand and power tools.
• Ability to read and follow plans and instructions.
• Strong practical skills with minimal supervision.
• Good physical fitness for manual work.
• Strong work ethic, positive attitude and reliability.
• Reliable transport to site.
• NZ Citizenship/Resident or valid NZ Work Visa.

Responsibilities

Advanced Personnel Services – Christchurch, South Island

We are looking for experienced Hammerhands and Skilled Civil Labourers to join our hardworking team on upcoming projects across the Christchurch region.

This is a great opportunity for reliable and capable workers who have solid construction or civil experience and are confident working independently as well as supporting the wider site team.

Key Responsibilities

Carry out a range of skilled civil construction and general labouring duties

Assist with formwork, boxing, concreting, steel fixing and steel tying

Prepare, set out and maintain work areas in accordance with plans and site requirements

Confidently use hand and power tools to complete tasks to a high standard

Read and follow plans, drawings, specifications and supervisor instructions

Assist with site set-up, material preparation and general construction activities

Support tradespeople and supervisors while taking responsibility for completing assigned tasks

Maintain a clean, organised and safe work environment and follow all health and safety procedures

What You’ll Bring

Proven experience as a Hammerhand, Skilled Labourer or in a similar civil construction role

Experience with formwork, concreting, steel fixing or other civil construction work

Confidence using a wide range of hand and power tools

Ability to read and follow plans and instructions

Strong practical skills and the ability to work with minimal supervision

Good physical fitness and the ability to carry out manual and active work

A strong work ethic, positive attitude and reliable approach to work

Reliable transport to get to and from site

A current WTR endorsement would be an advantage

The ability to pass a pre-employment drug test and criminal conviction check

Be a NZ Citizen/Resident or currently hold a valid NZ Work Visa
