Job summary

Whangārei Girls’ High School is seeking a qualified and experienced Counsellor to join our school guidance team. The successful applicant will support students and staff by providing confidential counselling and guidance services within a bicultural environment.

You will have NZAC membership, experience working with youth, and excellent communication skills, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Provide confidential counselling to students; assess needs and refer to appropriate services.
• Support the school guidance team and collaborate with staff.
• Maintain records and contribute to programmes supporting student wellbeing.

Our vision at Whangārei Girls’ High School is to empower and uplift the young women of Whangārei and their families.

Whangārei Girls' High School are seeking a qualified and experienced Counsellor to join our school guidance team.

Candidates will have excellent communication skills, enjoy working co-operatively and building positive effective relationships with students and staff. They must be able to relate well with teenage girls and be able to work in a bicultural environment, with initiative and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

The successful applicant for this role will have a membership with NZAC and experience working with youth.

This is a permanent position, Full-time 40 hours per week, Term 4 Start.

Hours of work are 5 days a week 8.00 - 4.30pm, during term time only
