Job summary

Bayfield High School in Otago seeks a part-time Guidance Counsellor to cover a fixed-term period for 0.4 FTE, starting 28/01/2027 and ending 01/12/2027. The role supports students in Years 7–15 and wharekura within a strong pastoral team.

The counsellor will contribute to student wellbeing, inclusion, and belonging, working across a broad range of subjects and student needs in a supportive school community.

Qualifications

• Guidance counsellor role within a supportive pastoral team.
• Part-time, fixed-term position to cover staff member on study leave.
• Role involves pastoral care and wellbeing support for students.

Responsibilities

• Provide guidance counselling to students across Years 7–15 and wharekura.
• Collaborate with the pastoral team to promote student wellbeing and belonging.
• Support students across the listed subjects (English, Health and Physical Education, Learning languages, Mathematics and statistics, Science, Social sciences, Technology, Te reo Māori, The arts).
