Job summary

Waimea College invites applications for a part-time, fixed-term Guidance Counsellor to join our Secondary (Years 7–15) / wharekura team. The position is 0.6 FTE with a start date of 27 January 2027 and an end date of 16 December 2027 (leave cover).

The successful applicant will have counselling experience and the ability to connect with a diverse student population, with a particular advantage for engaging male students. Applications close 15 September 2026.

• Ability to connect with male students would be an advantage.

Responsibilities

We are seeking a suitably qualified and experienced counsellor to join our staff for a fixed-term period, covering staff leave. The hours for this position will be 0.60 FTTE per week, however there is some flexibility.

The successful applicant will have counsellingexperiencewith strengths in dealing with a range of student needs, and an ability to connect and relate to male students would be an advantage.
