Job summary

Medifab seeks a senior finance executive to become CFO, leading finance, IT and governance for a fast-growing, founder-led business with international reach. The role demands commercial discipline, strategic finance and the ability to scale financial systems and processes as the company expands.

You will shape budgeting, forecasting and capital allocation while maintaining cash generation and financial rigour to support ambitious growth plans across NZ, AU, UK and USA.

Qualifications

• Finance leader with experience in sizeable private or founder-led businesses.
• Multi-entity and international exposure preferred.
• Strong commercial finance, forecasting and business-case skills.
• Experience with transfer pricing, intercompany, IP is a plus.
• ERP, BI and IT governance at executive level.

The opportunity

Medifab designs and manufactures complex seating and assistive technology for people with significant physical needs - highly configured, clinician-specified products trusted by therapists and families across New Zealand, Australia, the UK, and the United States.

The business is growing across multiple entities, markets and currencies, and is building the senior leadership structure to match its product reputation and international reach. The Group CFO is a cornerstone of that build.

This is a genuine C-suite appointment, reporting directly to the CEO, leading the finance function and the governance of IT and business systems.

The role

This is not a conventional finance-management role. It is about backbone: putting rigour and accountability into finance, IT and the corporate functions, and giving a founder-led business the financial architecture to scale responsibly. The CFO must help the leadership team weigh growth against the cash it consumes, and keep the business cash-generative as it grows.

In scope

• Lead group reporting, controls, budgeting, forecasting and cashflow across NZ, AU, UK and USA
• Give clear visibility of profitability and performance by entity, market, product and channel
• Bring strategic finance to major decisions - pricing, margin, capex, market entry and acquisitions
• Lead thinking on group structure, transfer pricing, intercompany arrangements and IP
• Build capital-allocation discipline and prepare the group to be transaction-ready
• Govern IT and business systems, and develop the finance and IT teams

What we need

We need an experienced finance leader who has operated in a sizeable private, founder-led or entrepreneurial business, ideally multi-entity and international, and who brings both commercial judgement and genuine financial discipline.

• CFO, Head of FP&A, Group Financial Controller or Head of Commercial Finance, ready to own a full group CFO seat
• Strong strategic finance - forecasting, scenario modelling and business-case development - on solid financial-control foundations
• Commercial finance depth across pricing, margin, COGS, product costing, working capital and cash
• Exposure to transfer pricing, intercompany, international tax, IP or global group structuring
• Transaction experience - acquisitions, due diligence, funding or sale preparation
• Confidence governing ERP, BI and business-systems priorities at executive level
• The presence to challenge founders and directors respectfully, and the pace to move from analysis to decision

Experience in product, manufacturing, distribution, export or healthcare technology is valuable. Industry background is a bonus, not a requirement - we will happily teach the industry, and welcome the fresh perspective that cross-industry experience brings.

You will need to be based in Canterbury or genuinely committed to relocating. The role carries domestic and international travel.

• You are a technical accountant without commercial or strategic-finance breadth
• You need a large support structure and highly mature systems to be effective
• You see IT, data and systems as outside the CFO remit
• You are more comfortable advising on strategy than delivering it, or hesitant to challenge owners and directors
