Job summary

Bargain Chemist invites graduate pharmacists to join our Canterbury network in a busy community pharmacy setting. You will gain hands-on experience under the guidance of registered pharmacists, supporting dispensary operations and patient-centred care across extended hours.

We offer comprehensive intern training, preceptor guidance, and PSNZ ITP support to help you transition from university to professional practice.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Pharmacy required and registration pathway with PSNZ ITP/preceptor support.
• Natural people person with ability to connect with staff, customers and community.
• Ability to work well under pressure and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Support dispensary operations and maintain pharmacy standards.
• Work with pharmacists to ensure safe, accurate medication supply.
• Assist with stock control, unpacking orders, and blister packing as needed.
• Provide patient education and medicines information to patients and whānau.
• Participate in dispensary service provisions and extemporaneous compounding.
• Support primary healthcare delivery and pharmacist-only sales.

As a graduate pharmacist with Bargain Chemist, you'll be supported every step of the way with a comprehensive intern training programme, ongoing guidance from your preceptor and the PSNZ ITP, and tailored support to help you transition from university into professional practice.

Our pharmacies operate 7 days a week, generally from 8am - 8pm including public holidays, so flexibility is important. Intern hours will align with your preceptor's roster. We're looking for graduate pharmacist who are passionate about pharmacy, customer care, and making a positive impact. You'll thrive if you're accurate, personable, solution‑focused, calm under pressure, and bring strong communication skills to every interaction.

What You'll Bring to Life in this Role

• Supporting dispensary operations and compliance with pharmacy standards.
• Working closely with pharmacists to ensure safe and accurate medication supply.
• Stock control, unpacking orders and assisting with blister packing as needed.
• Practice pharmacy with a patient centered care focus
• Dispense and checking medicines
• Participating in dispensary service provisions
• Extemporaneous compounding
• Provision of primary healthcare
• Provision of pharmacist only sales
• Providing medicine information to other healthcare professionals (HCP)
• Provide medication education to patients and their whānau
