Job summary

Western Bay of Plenty District Council is seeking a Governance Advisor to support the governance and democracy functions. You will work with elected members, prepare agendas, take minutes, manage resolutions, and provide timely information to leaders across the organisation.

You will enjoy a varied workload, collaborate across teams, and have access to development opportunities, flexible work arrangements, and a supportive work environment. NZ residency or valid permit required.

The opportunity

As a member of the Governance team the Governance Advisor helps deliver Council's governance and democracy functions. You will work closely with our elected members and support a variety of Council Committees and Community Boards. You will provide meeting support and advice on correct procedure and good governance practice. You will be responsible for creating agendas, taking minutes, and managing resolutions, and will work with staff to help ensure timely and accurate information is provided to elected members.

You will enjoy a varied workflow and the opportunity to work collaboratively across functions and teams in the organisation.

  • While Local Government experience is a bonus it is not a requirement, if you have the right set of skills and want to learn we will provide you with comprehensive training to be successful in the role.
