Job summary

CMW Geosciences in Hamilton, Waikato, seeks a Geotechnical Engineer or Engineering Geologist with 2+ years of experience to join the team. You will contribute from day one, bringing strong communication and collaboration skills to a well‑established practice.

As part of a wider Kiwa network, you’ll work across land development, energy, transport and infrastructure projects, with clear career development paths and mentoring from senior staff.

Qualifications

• Civil Engineering, Geology or Earth Sciences degree.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in a consultancy.
• Full New Zealand driver license.
• Full New Zealand working rights.

Responsibilities

• Undertake site investigations, field testing, data collection and analysis, and prepare design inputs and technical reports.
• Assist with project delivery under the guidance of senior professionals, contributing to practical solutions.
• Build technical capability through mentoring, project exposure, and collaboration with engineers and geologists across the business.

About the role

We are looking to bring on a motivated and hands‑on Geotechnical Engineer or Engineering Geologist with 2+ years of experience to join our talented team in Hamilton. With excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach, you will be eager to contribute from day one and hit the ground running.

Responsibilities

• Undertake site investigations, field testing, data collection and analysis, and prepare design inputs and technical reports.


• Assist with project delivery under the guidance of senior professionals, contributing to practical solutions that achieve project objectives and positive client outcomes.


• Build your technical capability through mentoring, project exposure, and collaboration with experienced engineers and geologists across the business.

What You'll Need

• A Civil Engineering, Geology or Earth Sciences Degree


• Minimum 2 years of experience as part of a consultancy


• Exceptional organisation and communication skills, both verbal and written


• Field-related experience in site investigations and construction observations


• Experience in land development preferred


• Previous exposure to proposal preparation and technical report writing


• A full New Zealand driver license


• Good interpersonal skills


• Full New Zealand working rights
