As the organisation continues to evolve, a newly created General Manager position has been established to provide dedicated operational leadership across the business and help support both operational excellence and sustainable growth. This is an opportunity to join a successful, values-driven organisation where you will work closely with the Directors and play a key role in helping deliver the firm's next phase of growth and development.

The Role

As the General Manager, you will be responsible for the effective day-to-day management and operational performance of a multi-office professional services practice and ensuring the business has the systems, people and processes in place to support continued growth. Leading a team responsible for administration, people and operational support functions, you will drive accountability, consistency and continuous improvement across the organisation while fostering a positive and high-performing culture.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead, mentor and develop operational and administrative team members across multiple locations
  • Monitor business performance, including WIP, billing, recoveries, productivity and operational KPIs
  • Provide clear reporting, insights and recommendations to support commercial and operational decision-making
  • Oversee key business support functions including people, recruitment, administration, technology, facilities and suppliers
  • Work closely with colleagues responsible for HR, employee support, marketing, and office support functions to build capability, strengthen culture and ensure effective people practices across the firm
  • Ensure operational consistency and service excellence across all office locations
  • Champion technology, automation and process improvement opportunities to improve scalability and effectiveness
  • Ensure appropriate risk management, compliance and governance practices are maintained across operational functions
  • Assist the Directors to evaluate growth opportunities and ensure the business has the systems, resources and operational capability to support expansion.

This role will suit an experienced professional who enjoys balancing commercial thinking with hands-on execution and is motivated by the opportunity to help a growing business achieve its full potential.

Role Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will be commercially astute, highly organised and have a proven ability to manage people, systems and performance. You will bring:

  • Proven experience in a General Manager, Operations Manager, Practice Manager or senior leadership role
  • Experience within legal, professional services, accounting, consulting, property or another service-based environment
  • Strong people leadership experience with the ability to build capability and drive accountability
  • Demonstrated success leading operational improvement and business transformation initiatives
  • Commercial and financial acumen with the ability to interpret business performance metrics and financial information
  • Experience managing KPIs, workflows, resource planning and operational performance
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to work effectively with senior leaders, staff and external partners
  • Excellent communication, relationship management and problem-solving skills
  • The adaptability to thrive in a growing and evolving business environment.

Most importantly, we are seeking someone who is excited by the opportunity to help deliver the next phase of growth for a successful and growing organisation.

What’s in it for You?
  • Newly created role with the opportunity to make a lasting impact
  • Contribute to operations across six established office locations
