Job summary

Canstaff in Canterbury, NZ is seeking an experienced Refrigeration Engineer to own and optimize the site’s industrial refrigeration systems, including ammonia and freon plant equipment. This hands-on role covers day-to-day maintenance, fault-finding, and major plant upgrades within a busy manufacturing environment.

You will work closely with the engineering team, identify reliability improvements, and contribute to ongoing plant upgrades.

Qualifications

• NZQA Level 4 Refrigeration qualification (or equivalent).
• Strong industrial refrigeration experience with ammonia essential.
• Solid fault-finding skills and a practical, hands-on approach.
• Based in New Zealand already.

Responsibilities

• Looking after industrial refrigeration systems, including ammonia and freon plant equipment.
• Fault finding, troubleshooting, and carrying out repairs.
• Preventative maintenance to keep the plant running at its best.
• Working alongside the wider engineering team on plant upgrades and capital projects.
• Helping identify opportunities to improve reliability, efficiency, and performance.
• Playing a key role in the ongoing development of the site's refrigeration plant.
