Job summary

Metlifecare is seeking a Gardener’s Assistant for Highland Park in East Auckland. You will help maintain and develop 12 acres of gardens, working 40 hours per week from 7.30am to 4pm, Monday to Friday, in a vibrant retirement village setting.

You will establish planting, support planned maintenance, operate garden equipment and collaborate with the Head Gardener to communicate with residents and village staff. A valid NZ driver’s license and fitness for physical work are required.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Gardener with a passion for gardening and ground maintenance
• Thorough knowledge of gardening and landscaping methods
• Hold and maintain a clean and valid New Zealand driver's license
• Fit for physically demanding work and operating garden machinery
• Can-do attitude and ability to work in a team
• Ability to plan and communicate with Village Management and residents

Responsibilities

• Establishing new planting to maintain garden standards (plants, shrubs, trees).
• Communicate with the village team and residents about planned works.
• Actioning planned maintenance programs.
• Maintenance of gardening equipment.
• Undertake landscaping and grounds work.
