Job summary

H J Asmuss Wellington is seeking a motivated Gantry Crane Operator to join our growing team. This hands-on role is ideal for someone reliable, safety-focused and eager to learn; full training is provided for the right person.

You will gain experience operating overhead gantry cranes and forklifts, handling steel products, and supporting stock control and warehouse administration. This is a physical role in a New Zealand‑owned company that values teamwork and customer service.

Qualifications

• Physical role requiring fitness and ability to work in varying weather
• Reliable, safety-focused and customer-oriented
• Must have a full NZ Class 1 Driver Licence

Responsibilities

• Picking, packing, and preparing customer orders for dispatch
• Learn to operate overhead gantry cranes and forklifts
• Loading and unloading steel products safely and efficiently
• Receiving inwards goods and completing warehouse documentation
• Assisting with stocktakes and inventory management
• Maintaining a safe work environment and contributing to continuous improvement
• Providing excellent service to both internal and external customers
