Job summary

UMC Innovation in Christchurch, NZ, is seeking a skilled CNC Programmer / Machinist to support CAM programming and machining workflows. The role focuses on programming complex components, improving efficiency, and assisting with 5-axis milling and additive tooling transitions.

You will collaborate with engineering and production teams to create optimized toolpaths, refine CNC processes, and contribute to precision manufacturing across diverse materials and tolerances.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience operating CNC milling and/or turning machines.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings with GD&T.
• Familiarity with Autodesk Fusion 360 for basic program editing or CAM is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC machines to produce components per job specs.
• Interpret drawings, blueprints, and CAD/CAM files.
• Load materials and ensure machines are maintained and ready for operation.
• Monitor machining processes and adjust for accuracy and quality.
• Conduct in-process inspections and verify finished parts against specs.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
• Collaborate with team to meet production targets and improve workflows.
• Perform manual turning and milling as needed for modifications or prototypes.
