Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Route Optimization Specialist for a fully remote role focused on designing efficient delivery routes across South Africa. You will leverage advanced GIS data and routing software to analyze traffic patterns, delivery windows, and vehicle capacity, driving cost savings and reduced delivery times.

The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, experience with Route4Me/OptimoRoute/ORT, and the ability to work effectively in a distributed team.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in route optimization, logistics planning, or a similar analytical role.
• Strong proficiency with route optimization software and GIS tools.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data.
• In-depth understanding of geographical information systems and mapping technologies.
• Experience working in a remote or distributed team environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop, test, and implement optimized delivery routes using specialized software and geographical data.
• Analyze delivery data, including traffic patterns, delivery windows, and vehicle capacity, to inform route planning.
• Identify opportunities to improve route efficiency, reduce mileage, fuel consumption, and delivery times across various regions in South Africa.
• Collaborate remotely with dispatchers and operational managers to ensure effective route execution and troubleshoot any arising issues.
• Maintain and update mapping data, delivery zones, and routing parameters in the optimization software.
• Generate reports and present findings on route performance, cost savings, and efficiency improvements to senior management.
