Job summary

INNOVATIVE CONSTRUCTION & TRADING LIMITED is seeking two carpenters to join our busy team in Whangarei, New Zealand. This full-time role offers a minimum of 30 guaranteed hours per week and involves reviewing drawings, selecting materials, fabricating components, and installing frameworks, roofing, cladding, and fittings.

Candidates should have at least two years’ construction experience or a construction-related certificate, good communication, and the ability to work independently.

Qualifications

• Two years of work experience in construction, or a certificate in a construction-related area can replace the work experience requirement.
• Good communication and coordination skills to work as a team member.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Review drawings and specifications to determine required materials, dimensions, and installation methods.
• Order and select timber and building materials, ensuring quantity and quality.
• Prepare layouts, cut materials to size, and assemble components using nails, screws, and adhesives.
• Construct and install framework, roof structures, sub-flooring, and floorboards with structural accuracy.
• Install fascia panels, roof sheathing, exterior cladding, and door/window frames.
• Assemble and fit pre-cut wood to form structures and fittings for installation.
• Cut and shape wood joints for strong and secure connections.
• Repair and modify existing fixtures and fittings.
• Adhere to health and safety standards.
• Perform other reasonable tasks as required by management.
