Zento Construction Ltd , based in Auckland , is a growing construction business specialising in residential and commercial building projects. We are currently seeking two skilled and reliable Carpenters to join our team.
This is a full-time position , offering 30 to 50 hours per week .
Key Duties
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Reading and interpreting building plans, drawings and specifications to determine required materials, dimensions and installation methods.
- Measuring, marking, cutting and preparing timber and other construction materials accurately to the required sizes and shapes.
- Selecting, ordering and preparing timber and other materials, and setting out work areas in accordance with project requirements.
- Assembling and securely fastening timber components to construct building structures and fittings.
- Constructing and erecting building frameworks, including wall frames and other structural components.
- Installing walls, stairs, window frames, door frames and other timber structures and fittings.
- Installing fascia panels, roof sheathing and exterior wall cladding.
- Constructing and installing interior and exterior timber structures and fittings.
- Checking measurements, levels and alignment to ensure completed work meets project specifications.
- Removing, repairing and replacing damaged or existing timber structures and fittings where required.
- Working safely and maintaining a clean and organised work area.
- Performing other carpentry and construction-related duties as reasonably required by the Team Leader or Site Supervisor.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:
- A relevant NZQF Level 4 qualification (e.g., NZ Certificate in Carpentry or equivalent), or at least one year of relevant construction experience. A bachelor’s degree can be in any field.
- Practical experience in measuring, cutting, assembling and installing timber and building components.
- The ability to read and understand building plans, drawings and specifications.
- Good knowledge of carpentry tools, materials and construction methods.
- Good attention to detail and the ability to work accurately.
- Good physical fitness and the ability to undertake manual and construction work.
- The ability to work independently as well as effectively as part of a team.
- Good communication skills and a reliable, responsible approach to work.
- A strong commitment to workplace health and safety.
- A good employment history and no serious criminal convictions.
