Job summary

South Pacific Holiday Tour Limited in Christchurch seeks a proactive Full Stack Developer to join permanently. You will design and build full-stack web apps, booking systems, and internal platforms, using Node.js, Python, Java, PHP, or .NET.

You will integrate travel APIs and payment gateways, manage databases, and ensure security and performance across the stack. A 40-hour week and a collaborative, modern work environment are offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree NZQF Level 7+ in Computer Science/Software Engineering/IT, or equivalent.
• At least 2–3 years of hands-on full-stack development experience.

Responsibilities

• Design, architect, develop, test and maintain full-stack web apps and booking engines.
• Develop secure, scalable back-end services and RESTful APIs.
• Design and optimise relational/non-relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB).
• Integrate third-party travel APIs and payment gateways (Stripe, WeChat Pay, Alipay).
• Implement security, performance, and cross-platform compatibility best practices.
• Maintain CI/CD pipelines and cloud deployments (AWS/Azure/GCP).
• Prepare architecture docs, user manuals, and technical documentation.

South Pacific Holiday Tour Limited is a well-established New Zealand-based travel and tourism company headquartered in Christchurch. We specialise in inbound and outbound travel services, customised tour packages, educational tours, and tailored tourism experiences.

To support our digital transformation, internal booking systems, and rapid business expansion, we are currently seeking a proactive and skilled Full Stack Developer / Engineer to join our team on a permanent full-time basis.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, architect, develop, test, and maintain full stack web applications, booking engines, and internal tourism operations management platforms.
• Develop secure, scalable back-end services, RESTful APIs, and business logic (utilising Node.js, Python, Java, PHP, or .NET).
• Design, configure, and optimize relational/non-relational database architectures (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB) to ensure system reliability and data integrity.
• Integrate third-party travel APIs, payment gateways (Stripe, WeChat Pay, Alipay), itinerary management tools, and external service provider feeds.
• Implement best practices in web application security, performance optimisation, and cross-platform compatibility.
• Conduct code reviews, unit and integration testing, bug debugging, and maintain CI/CD pipelines and cloud deployments (AWS/Azure/GCP).
• Prepare system architecture specifications, user manuals, and technical documentation.

Key Requirements & Qualifications (Job Check Compliant)

• Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree (NZQF Level 7 or above) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field; OR
  • At least 2 to 3 years of proven hands‑on full‑stack software development experience.
• Technical Skills:
  • Solid proficiency in modern front-end technologies (JavaScript/TypeScript, React / Vue / Angular, CSS3/SASS).
  • Strong back-end programming skills (Node.js, Python/Django/FastAPI, PHP/Laravel, or Java/C#).
  • Proven experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL / MySQL) and API integration.
  • Experience with Git version control, automated build tools, and cloud infrastructure.
• General Attributes:
