Job summary

Phocas Software is seeking an engineer to strengthen our Dashboards experience in Christchurch. You’ll build fast, clear front-end features for dashboards, collaborate with design and data teams, and explore AI-powered enhancements to help customers act on their data with confidence.

You’ll apply strong React and TypeScript skills, work with data visualisation, and bring a systems-thinking mindset to deliver elegant, scalable solutions that customers rely on every morning.

Qualifications

• Strong front-end skills, ideally React and TypeScript.
• Experience working with data, ideally building things that visualise it.
• Genuine enthusiasm for AI, both as a tool you use to write code and as something you want to build into products.
• A systems thinker's mindset: you see the whole picture, not just the ticket in front of you.
• Self-starter energy: you spot the problem and start figuring out how to solve it.
• Confidence to back your ideas, and curiosity to keep questioning them.
• A finance or BI background is a genuine plus, but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Build and improve front-end features for our dashboards product, working closely with design and data teams.
• Use AI tools day to day to move faster, and help shape how AI-powered features show up in the product itself.
• Turn open-ended problems, like how best to visualise a given dataset, into elegant, working solutions.
• Think in systems: understand how a small change in one part of the product ripples through the rest.
• Work directly with customers to understand what actually helps them make decisions.
