Job summary

New World Bishopdale is hiring a Produce Assistant to join our fresh produce team. You will help prepare and stock fruit and vegetables, keep displays tidy, and ensure items meet our quality standards.

You’ll serve customers with a smile, assist in maintaining food safety and cleanliness, and work closely with the broader store team on busy days. Friday 9:00am–5:00pm roster; full training provided.

Qualifications

• Positive attitude and pride in doing things properly.
• Reliable, honest and strong work ethic.
• Enjoy working in a fast-paced environment.
• Comfortable standing and handling fresh produce.
• Good attention to detail and care about presentation.
• Previous supermarket or produce experience is a bonus, but full training can be provided.
• Team player who’s happy to help wherever needed.

Responsibilities

• Produce Preparation & Stocking – Receive, unpack, rotate and replenish fresh fruit and vegetables, ensuring stock is fresh and available for customers.
• Department Presentation – Keep displays full, tidy and visually appealing throughout the day.
• Quality Control – Check produce for freshness and quality, removing any damaged or unsuitable items.
• Customer Service – Serve customers with a smile, answer questions and help them find what they need.
• Food Safety & Cleanliness – Maintain high standards of cleanliness, hygiene and safe food handling.
• Teamwork – Work alongside the wider supermarket team, pitching in wherever needed to keep the department running smoothly.
