Bioresearches, the specialist ecology brand of Babbage Consultants Limited, invites a Junior Freshwater Ecologist to join our Christchurch team. You will assist freshwater and wetland surveys, assessments, and monitoring within a collaborative multidisciplinary environment.

We seek outdoors lovers with strong communication, fieldwork readiness, and the ability to work in remote terrain. This is a great chance to grow in an employee-owned company that cares about the environment.

Qualifications

• Post-graduate qualification in ecology, environmental science or related discipline.
• Working knowledge of freshwater ecosystems in New Zealand.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Love of the outdoors.
• Fitness for fieldwork in remote and rough terrain.
• Ecological survey and report writing experience.
• Full New Zealand Driver's Licence.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert advice and assist delivery of freshwater and wetland surveys, assessments, management and monitoring.
• Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team including terrestrial and marine disciplines as required.
• Support high-quality ecological projects and client engagement.

Bioresearches has a track record of more than 50 years of delivering ecological assessments, management and monitoring services throughout New Zealand and across marine, coastal, freshwater and terrestrial environments, working with a diversity of indigenous flora and fauna.

Our exciting role

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Junior Freshwater Ecologist to join our growing team in Christchurch.In this role you will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary environment to provide expert advice and assist the delivery of high-quality freshwater and wetland surveys, assessments, management and monitoring programs, while assisting terrestrial and marine disciplines where necessary/required. You will work in a highly motivated team who are passionate about the environment, ecology, sustainable solutions and who love their workplace. What you’ll need

• A relevant post-graduate qualification in ecology, environmental science or related discipline
• Working knowledge of freshwater ecosystems in New Zealand
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Love of the outdoors
• A good level of fitness, capability to do fieldwork and ability to work in remote and rough terrain
• Ecological survey and report writing experience gained through study, research or employment
• Full New Zealand Drivers License
