Job summary

Bidfood Queenstown is seeking a hands-on Fresh Procurement specialist to source, purchase and manage high-quality fresh produce for our customers. This role combines procurement, quality control, inventory management and warehouse operations to ensure timely delivery.

You will work Monday to Friday, with early start at 6:00am, shifts of 7–10 hours, and an hourly rate of $35–$38. Experience in purchasing or stock management, strong attention to detail, and proficiency with Excel, Word and email

Bidfood Queenstown is looking to fill our Fresh Procurement position. This role plays a key role in sourcing, purchasing and managing high-quality fresh produce for our customers.

This is a hands-on position that combines procurement, quality control, inventory management and warehouse operations.

About the Role

Fresh Procurement will be responsible for managing all inbound fresh produce purchasing and quality assurance, ensuring our customers consistently receive the highest quality products available.

Working five days per week Monday to Friday, you'll start at 6:00am and work shifts of 7 to 10 hours. With an hourly rate starting from $35 - $38, this is an exciting opportunity to join a growing and fast-paced business where you can make a meaningful contribution and help drive the delivery of high-quality fresh produce to our customers.

Key responsibilities include:

• Purchasing and managing the supply of fresh produce.
• Maintaining strict quality standards across all incoming products.
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers.
• Negotiating competitive pricing and achieving targeted gross profit margins.
• Ensuring supplier invoices accurately reflect negotiated pricing and approving invoices and credits.
• Accurately pricing products.
• Identifying opportunities to improve purchasing and operational processes.
• Supporting daily warehouse operations, including:
  • Inwards goods
  • Replenishment
  • Picking and packing
  • Inventory management and stock control
• Effectively prioritising tasks and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Previous hospitality experience, ideally as a Chef or within a commercial kitchen environment would be an asset.
• A genuine love for food especially fresh produce
• Strong attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy and process compliance.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
• Excellent relationship-building and interpersonal skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience in purchasing, replenishment, procurement, or stock management.
• Ability to identify and implement process improvements.
• Competency using Microsoft Excel, Word, and email systems.
• Current Forklift experience or certification and Class 2 license desirable
