Job summary

Automotive Employment NZ Limited is seeking an experienced Automotive Technician for a bustling workshop in Hamilton. You will service, maintain and repair passenger vehicles, diagnose faults and perform WOF inspections when licensed.

You’ll advise customers on servicing needs and work within a clean, modern environment. Join a team offering ongoing training, state-of-the-art tools and supportive management.

Qualifications

• Automotive trade qualification or equivalent.
• Strong mechanical and diagnostic skills across various brands.
• Clear NZ driver’s licence and good communication skills.
• Current WOF inspector licence or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out servicing, maintenance and mechanical repairs on passenger vehicles.
• Diagnosing faults and completing repairs efficiently and accurately.
• Performing inspections and minor repairs to a high standard.
• Completing WOF inspections if holding a current licence.
• Advising customers on servicing requirements and recommended repairs.

The role

You will be responsible for:

• Carrying out servicing, maintenance and general mechanical repairs on passenger vehicles
• Diagnosing faults and completing repairs efficiently and accurately
• Performing inspections and minor repairs to a high standard
• Completing WOF inspections if you hold a current WOF licence
• Advising customers on servicing requirements and recommended repairs when required
• Maintaining a clean, safe and organised workshop
• Working as part of a professional and supportive team

What you will need

• Relevant automotive trade qualification
• Strong all-round mechanical and diagnostic skills
• Experience working across a variety of vehicle brands
• Current WOF inspector licence, or a willingness to obtain one
• High standards of workmanship and attention to detail
• Good communication and customer service skills
• A clean and valid NZ driver's licence
