SourceIn is seeking a Founding Software Engineer to help build an AI-powered wearable platform from the ground up. You'll join early, work directly with the founder, and shape the technical foundations of the company while delivering the first version of our wearable-connected software.

This fully remote role requires shipping MVPs, collaborating across frontend, backend, and integrations, and making pragmatic decisions in ambiguity.

Qualifications

• Experience shipping MVPs or early-stage products.
• Comfortable working in ambiguity and moving fast without heavy process.
• Independent problem-solver who doesn't need hand-holding.
• Clear communicator - direct, proactive, and practical.
• 3–7+ years of hands-on engineering experience; startup/solo-builder a plus.

Founding Software Engineer (AI Wearable Platform)

We're working with an early-stage startup building an AI-powered wearable and a connected software platform that work together to deliver personalised, real-time experiences.

This is a Founding Engineer role - you'll be one of the first technical hires, working directly with the founder to build the initial product end-to-end and shape the technical foundations of the company.

What you'll be doing

Build the first version of a wearable-connected software platform

Develop an early MVP web/laptop app that configures and syncs with the device

Work across frontend, backend, integrations, and infrastructure

Rapidly prototype, test, and iterate on product ideas

Help turn early concepts into a stable, demo-ready product

Act with a founder mindset: ownership, prioritisation, and pragmatic decision-making

What kind of engineer are we looking for?

Experience shipping MVPs or early-stage products

Comfortable working in ambiguity and moving fast without heavy process

Typical background

3-7+ years of hands-on engineering experience (or equivalent depth)

Startup, scale-up, or solo-builder experience is a strong plus

Indicative tech environment

(Not fixed - you'll help shape it)

Frontend: React

Backend: Node.js or Python

APIs, AI integrations, and modern cloud tooling

Lightweight, pragmatic stack focused on speed and reliability

Working setup

Fully remote

Minimum 20 hours/week (full-time preferred)

Some overlap with NZ time zone

Direct collaboration with the founder
