SourceIn is building an AI-powered wearable platform and seeks a Founding Software Engineer to join remotely (NZ overlap). You’ll help build the initial product end-to-end, working directly with the founder to shape technical foundations.
You’ll ship MVPs, prototype quickly, and own frontend, backend, integrations, and infrastructure, with equity and high ownership for the right hire.
Location: Remote, HQ is in Auckland, New Zealand
We’re working with an early-stage startup building an AI-powered wearable and a connected software platform that work together to deliver personalised, real-time experiences.
This is a Founding Engineer role — you’ll be one of the first technical hires, working directly with the founder to build the initial product end‑to‑end and shape the technical foundations of the company.
Build the first version of a wearable‑connected software platform
Develop an early MVP web/laptop app that configures and syncs with the device
Work across frontend, backend, integrations, and infrastructure
Rapidly prototype, test, and iterate on product ideas
Help turn early concepts into a stable, demo‑ready product
Act with a founder mindset: ownership, prioritisation, and pragmatic decision‑making
Experience shipping MVPs or early‑stage products
Comfortable working in ambiguity and moving fast without heavy process
Independent problem‑solver who doesn’t need hand‑holding
Clear communicator — direct, proactive, and practical
3–7+ years of hands‑on engineering experience (or equivalent depth)
Startup, scale‑up, or solo‑builder experience is a strong plus
(Not fixed — you’ll help shape it)
Frontend: React
Backend: Node.js or Python
APIs, AI integrations, and modern cloud tooling
Lightweight, pragmatic stack focused on speed and reliability
Fully remote
Minimum 20 hours/week (full‑time preferred)
Some overlap with NZ time zone
Direct collaboration with the founder
Founding-level equity for the right hire
High ownership and real influence on product and direction
Opportunity to build from zero, not maintain legacy
