Job summary

NZ Recruit is seeking a confident Forklift Operator for an afternoon shift in Hornby, Christchurch. This hands-on role covers the yard and manufacturing site, requiring safe forklift operation and input into site systems.

You will load and unload trucks, move materials, and support the production team while adhering to health and safety procedures. Immediate start and a 6-month fixed-term with potential extension are available.

Qualifications

• Current forklift licence and forklift operator experience required.
• Confident on forks and able to operate in a large manufacturing yard.
• Must pass pre-employment checks including drug testing.
• Available for an immediate start and able to commit to afternoons.
• Physically fit and able to work indoors and outdoors.

Responsibilities

• Operate forklift across yard and manufacturing site.

• Move and position materials and product as directed.
• Record movements in site computer systems.

Forklift Operator - Afternoon Shift, Hornby, Christchurch

We're looking for a confident and experienced Forklift Operator to join a large manufacturing environment in Christchurch.

This is a hands‑on role working across the yard and manufacturing site. You'll need to be confident on the forks, comfortable using computer‑based systems and able to hit the ground running.

The role:

• Monday to Friday, 4pm-12am
• Forklift operation across the yard and manufacturing environment
• Loading and unloading trucks
• Moving and positioning materials and product
• Using site systems to record and track movements
• Supporting the wider production team as required
• Working both indoors and outdoors
• Following strict health and safety procedures

What's on offer:

• $26.90 per hour + 8% holiday pay
• Afternoon shift allowance applicable
• Overtime available from 12am-2am at time and a half
• Meal allowance applicable when overtime is worked
• 6-month fixed‑term opportunity with a chance for extention or temp to perm
• Immediate start available

What we're looking for:

• Current forklift licence
• Confident and experienced forklift operator
• Comfortable operating in a large manufacturing environment
• Confident using computer systems and completing basic system‑based tasks
• Good understanding of health and safety
• Reliable, punctual and able to commit to Monday‑Friday afternoon shifts
• Physically fit and comfortable working both indoors and outdoors
• Reliable transport
• Two recent working references
• Able to pass all required pre‑employment checks, including drug testing, Ministry of Justice and ACC checks
• Available for an immediate start
