Job summary

WM New Zealand seeks an technically curious engineer to shape fleet technology, including EVs, sensors and telematics. You will design, test, deploy and continuously improve tech solutions across our vehicle fleet, coordinating with engineers, technicians and suppliers to deliver reliable performance.

Ideal candidates have hands-on problem solving, data analysis skills, and a practical approach to engineering, from concept to deployment and support of fleet technology systems.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical, mechatronics or automotive.
• Circuit design and electrical system integration.
• Wiring harness design and documentation.
• Technical troubleshooting and fault finding.
• Data analysis and technical reporting.
• Supplier engagement and technical project delivery.
• PCB design using Altium Designer or similar software.
• CAN Bus and J1939 vehicle communications.
• PLC programming and industrial control systems.
• Python, C++, or similar programming languages.
• CAD design and experience with 3d printing
• Vehicle telematics and diagnostics.
• Electric vehicle systems and charging infrastructure.
• Embedded electronics and control systems.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop fleet technology solutions, in house 3d printing, electrical systems, circuit boards, and wiring harnesses.
• Support prototype development, testing, commissioning, and deployment activities.
• Integrate sensors, control systems, telematics, and vehicle electronics into fleet applications.
• Develop technical documentation, specifications, and implementation plans.
